Event By TalentX together with Almi Invest and Google
Great to see our portfolio companies gather to learn, connect and discuss their respective journeys with each other. This week, I invited Raman Ramalingam from talentX to present a new approach to talent acquisition optimized for scaling startups.

🏃♀️ The traditional way of recruiting (a job ad on LinkedIn) is not optimal for startups (well, perhaps not for corporates either). Startups need a leaner approach to save resources and minimize the risk of a bad recruitment.
💻 Don’t merely copy and adjust another company´s job ad. Start by defining what your new talent must accomplish during the first 6 months, and then list the of kind of personas (e.g. Role X at Company type Y) who can succeed in this. With this information, you can quickly create a long-list of relevant persons by screening peers, customers and competitors on LinkedIn, Crunchbase etc. Then choose your targets and hunt them down!
👁🗨 Look for signals indicating that candidates might be open for a new role. Such signals can be company exits, lack of funding, a leader in a company is leaving for a new role etc.
⚖️ Understand the difference between a talent trader and talent investor persona. A talent investor seeks to invest their talent in your company, rather than just trading it for short term gain (salary).
I recommend you to connect with Raman if you want to know more about modern startup recruitment processes. Also, a big thank you to Google (Joseph Michael) for letting us host our session in your great venue!
